How the refrigerant in your AC unit can directly affect the ozone layer. ~
The refrigerant in your older AC unit contains harmful ozone depleting HCFCs, which are slowly being phased out to protect our planet. However, that doesn’t mean that all technicians abide by what is required to protect our environment. For example, if you take a look around, everybody is required to abide by the traffic laws when driving a vehicle, but you can safely say that 20%-45% of people break those laws on a regular basis. So it’s also safe to assume that a number of air conditioning technicians, on a worldwide scale, don’t care about the planet and release the harmful ozone depleting chemicals into the atmosphere, or worse they don’t even know that they are even doing it due lack of proper training.
Be assured that our trained technicians here at Right away air conditioning care about our planet.
How we do this is no mystery. We recover the refrigerant and capture it in a bottle. Then we turn it in at the wholesale house (where we purchase our professional equipment), where it’s shipped out to a reclaim facility. It eventually comes back as new refrigerant.
The immediate impact of not complying with the law in the handling of the refrigerant might not be apparent, however if you think about all the major climatic changes and environmental challenges the planet now faces due to these chemicals, you will start to understand why it’s so important that we take the extra effort to capture the refrigerant and process it properly, the right way.
